As This period mark the 22th Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi. It is an important occasion to remember the lives that were lost, to show solidarity with survivors and unite to ensure genocide never happens again in Rwanda or elsewhere.
The event to commemorate the Genocide took place in Kirehe district, Nyarubuye sector on 20th May 2016 and brought together NCPD staff and board members, UPHLS staff and board members with their different partners. They visited Nyarubuye Genocide memorial site where they heard the stories of how the Genocide was organised and perpetrated, killing more than thirty five thousand victims.

The employees and board members of both institutions laid a wreath at the memorial in honour over thirty five thousand Genocide victims and then The Mayor of Kirehe district and UPHLS legal representative took place to talk about Genocide organization and its consequences on Rwandan population and the country in general. They both came back on this year theme which is fighting against Genocide ideology.
